Orientation...Planning...Connecting...WORK!
This morning we woke up feeling rested and excited to see the orphanage for the first time!!! For the "second timers" it was great seeing old faces and for everyone special meeting new ones! The kids, though there are new faces, are the same; friendly, happy to see us and very engaging!
After a very quick tour we set to work planning, measuring and organizing our thoughts as to all the practical needs of the orphange and how we could help meet them! The men wasted no time in unloading supplies and starting to construct the shower house. For the rest it was time to connect with the little boys. A trip to the local park and a rousing game of soccer baseball ( taught us by the orphan boys ), some pickup basketball at the orphanage were enjoyed by all. Some also took the opportunity to help with some of the practical day to day needs by folding laundry and helping cook and serve the lunch for the boys.
We left the orphanage tired, but happy at having started the work.
Tomorrow we're off to the Koinonia church outreach event in the park. Food, fun, dramas, songs and testimonies to reach out to the friends and neighbours that they will be inviting.
Pray for a fruitful day.
