A great day of Outreach in the Park

Today was a great day here in Mexico. We went with Larry's church to host a family outreach day in the park. The idea was to have the people of the church invite their friends and family that they are witnessing to see and hear from some gringos who came down just to tell them about Jesus - oh and to have some Fabulous Mexican food.

There was beans, beans, quesadillas, pork rinds, lots of hot sauces and plenty of other food to sate the appetites of all who came.

Larry and Marbi were greatly encoraged by the number of people who came out!! Many who had been unwilling to attend any church function in the past and were there for the first time! It was so neat to see!!! God was at work in a mighty way! Please pray that the testimonies they heard and the love of Christ we shared will yield much fruit!

Elise, Rebecca, Chloe, Kiera and Hannah did a rhythmic dance to "God So Loved the World" in Spanish!

Shae-lynn sang a beautiful song and Mayra told the children the story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho falling down!
Mark, Laura and Shinead shared testimonies with the help of Mayra translating.
Helberth didn't need a translator and shared his heart with the crowd.

When we were finished with our portion, Larry ask if anyone from his church would like to share their testimonies! Two men shared what God has been doing in their lives! Wow!! God is so good! Each one of these men is a clear testament to Gods' powerful work in our lives if we allow Him to. What a privilege it was for the team to see the harvest of years of work by Larry and Marbi in Guadalajara and the transforming work of God!
Then we started some of the fun.

Here is a game where you blindfold a pair of people and let them try to find a watergun. Once the water gun is found they have to "tag" their opponent with water while still blindfolded!!!!

The crowd got as "tagged" as the opponent. By the way, that's Mayra behind the blindfold!! :)

Another game we played was volleyball with waterballoons. Loads of fun and laughs!!

The cool thing about this ( pun intended) is that the church folks and their guests were having so much fun they didn't want to leave. There were some very good opportunities for the church to talk with those outside, even to siblings that have fought against their "religion."

Pray for the seeds to be watered now as the church follows up.

Tomorrow we're on our way back to the orphanage for a busy day of work!!! Please pray that all will run smoothly and that we will be able to find the solution to the water problem there! When we were there on Saturday there was no water getting to the cystern from the city water supply! It seems to be blocked and will certainly pose a problem for building the showers! We are trusting God completely!!

  1. Sounds like a wonderful day and an amazing start to your trip - I'm so happy for you all that the even was so successful. I wasn't able to see Mayra with her watergun so I'll use my imagination :-).
Keep safe and blessings to all of you
